Hello again!
My new keycaps I ordered arrived today! They're mostly pink with white accent keys, and they're noticably thicker than the stock keycaps that came with my board. They're a bit rounded at the edges (which I think is a cute touch), and one of their main special details is that they have a layer of hard plastic on top of the base of the key so that light can shine though and the legends on the keys themselves don't wear like they typically would! This also means that these keys are smoother and glossier than the old stock ones, which I heard took a little getting used to from the reviews. So far, I think they're easy to type on, I like them!
The way the backlighting on my keyboard shines through is interesting, it's a lot clearer than the other keys (which I think is because the other keys has a matte clear layer inside of them, which dispersed the light differently). It's not a bad thing, but I noticed I can stare straight into one of the letters and it gets in my eye a bit. Not enough to bother me too much.
I had my eye on them for the better part of two months, but I've been trying to hold back on online spending recently! I'm so happy with them so far (especially after some of the reviews said theirs arrived in less-than-optimal quality...)
As for other updates, the zine I applied for ended up having over 200 applicants! And with such a high number, it was hard to rule out a small pool, so I didn't end up making it. I feel alright about it, and honestly for the organizers, picking everyone out in the first place sounds like a otn of work. The message I got was super kind and I appreciate them taking to time to not only send out acceptance emails, but also rejection ones so people aren't just left wondering. Even though I didn't make it, maybe I can sharpen up my skills and submit some even cooler pieces for another application in the future :D Either way, I'm super excited to see the final zine when it drops in November!
